글쓰기를 접으려했다가/ I nearly packed up writing

글쓰기를 중단하고자 마음을 접었었다

이래저래 휘갈겨봤자 그게 그게려니

세상의 모든정세들이 계속 휘청거리고 있는데

갑자기 글쓰는 자체가 사치로 여겨지는게 아닌가?

Recently, a penny dropped, all of a sudden.

Why should I bother? I will pack up writing.

What is the point? They are all the same, one word or another

It seemed so luxurious to even writing something

in this treacherous day and age

세살 버릇 여든까지 간다는데

글쓰던 버릇또한 못버리나보다

중학교때 담임선생이 반전체앞에서 나를향해

장래의 유명한 작가라고 선포(?) 아닌 선포를 했었다

물론 처음부터 아예 유명한 작가를 지향하지도 않았지만

“What’s learnt in the cradle lasts till the tomb”, as we know

Once a writer must always be a writer

My class teacher in my middle school proclaimed(?) to everyone

“Chang will be a prominent writer in the future”

That I didn’t dare to be from the start

사실 앞으로 육신을 지탱하기가 힘들어지기전에

지금도 글을쓸수 있다는것에 감사해야만 할것이다

아직도 생각을 할수있고 손이 움직여지는 때까지

글로 표현을 담아야 하겠다고 자위해본다

궁극적으로 아직 살아있음을 절실이 증명하는 것이리라

Bearing in mind the stage I would be of rigid immobility in old age

Should I am grateful to when, right now, I can write in one piece

Yet, my marbles are intact; my brain and hands work in good form

I comfort and remind of myself that I should carry on penning

The ultimate message of this is a demonstration of that I still breath soundly.
