Alaska

by Wolran Kim

In front of the handle falling freedom constantly
ALASKA number plate cut into the line
Long ago, the place where I folded my wings for a moment by military aircraft
Wrangell Mountains snow through the window of lounge at military base
Was white and high as the sky never landed from traps
The fish that is mixed blood with the White and have caught in summer
Ho, Ho, blow into my hand, in the torpid
the Earth not the Island of Aleutian
As a teenager’s tedious wandering
Running through the strange city and a bizarre airstrip
Following Alaska driven by Alaskan
Run into Siberia through the Bering Bridge will disappear someday
Above sea level lower and lower again as a dream
As the Pleistocene’s human chasing mammoths
Walk through a new trodden land to America
I am a living thing of a glacier
The grand cruise of memories climbing up and down stairs of glaciers
is possible to fly ultra-low and bypass navigation
Memory’s data read by jet’s engine is endless
Carry on the head burning plate which came to the bigger island after small
I am a hypothermic Alaskan who changed lanes without a hunch
That Alaskan, drifting further and further to speeding memory
Miss it by a second
Always turns back after missing it, those chilled dazzling things
On the accelerator pedal as an ultrasound depth gauge pushed with right foot
Above a main route of memories
It’s time traffic falls keen as snowfall
Lying embrace pure white on the corner arriving spring
I’m turning to the midnight sun for a while
