그늘을 드리우는 나무를 사랑한다면
그 잎새 질 때 낙엽까지도 사랑해야 하리

그윽하고 아름다운 장미를 사랑한다면
그 장미나무의 가시까지도 사랑해야 하리

그녀의 밝고 맑은 웃음을 사랑한다면
그녀의 슬픈 눈물까지도 사랑해야 하리

그리운 이의 진실한 마음을 사랑한다면
그가 갖고 있는 아픔까지도 사랑해야 하리

그대를 신뢰하고 목숨처럼 사랑한다면
그의 모든 역경까지도 사랑해야 하리

If you love a tree casting a shadow,
You must also love its falling leaves as they wither away.

If you love delicate and beautiful roses,
You must also love their thorns as every rose has.

If you love her bright and luminous smile,
You must also love the tears of sorrow as she may suffer.

If you love truthful heart of your fond beloved,
You must also love the pain as the beloved endures.

If she loves and trusts you with all her life,
You must also love her adversities as she passes through.
