별 없는 감사절 해마다 빠지지 않던 앨도라도 공원의 감사절 합동미사 딸이 시집을 간 후론 내내 사돈네 행사, 라스베가스로 간다 이곳에 뿌리를 내린 많은 사돈 가족에 비해 우린 이런 저런 사연으로 단 두 식구뿐 참여하는 이유는 절실했다 여전히 너무 많은 불 빛 때문에 장님이 되어버린 별들 올해도 욕심으로 찬란한 지상의 불빛에 질긍이고 있는 별 눈 속고 속으면서도 땡겨야 하는 기계 안의 유혹 씨끌 대는 소리 소리들! 별들이 귀까지 먼 것은 그래서 인가보다 이 곳에서 감사절 모임을 하는 것이 언제나 의문인 사돈네 식구들은 행복해만 보인다 웅크리고 있는 나의 작은 가슴은 별을 볼 수 없어 숨 막히는 네바다 하늘 밑에 점 하나 어쩔 수 없이 그립기만 한 꿈 점 하나 A Thanksgiving Day without a Star Never had I missed a joint Thanksgiving mass in El Dorado Park until my daughter married Since then, I always go to Las Vegas for Thanksgiving reunion with the in-laws For one reason or another, we are only a family of two while the in-laws has rather big family having roots deep in America as longtime immigrants So there, s a keen necessity for my going there Dazzled by still too many lights the stars have become blind This year is no exception in that the greed-infested bright lights on the ground make the eyes of the stars nervously blinking Deception of perception continues and continues and Compulsory pulling and pulling makes jingles inside the machine What a big and loud noise! The stars may have become deaf as well because of these noises The in-laws look happy though they always wonder if it is a right thing to do to have Thanksgiving family get-together here in Vegas My small crouching heart becomes a dot under the Nevada sky out of breath since it cannot see the stars It, s a dot blurred by the tears of the star; It, s a dot of dream wishing to be a star yearning helplessly.
