사랑 (Love) The International

Love
I wonder who you are.
You who will fill up the depth of my mind
While I keep sitting alone in silence
You knock on my heart
Even if I lock it tight.
You might be doing the same
when I roam about
looking for you all around.
Not a cold rock
Standing upright beyond time,
May you rather become a clear river
And pass by in front of me
With a loud sound.
Like the breeze moving along an alley,
Like the starlight shining in the wind,
You charge my
whole empty soul
Tonight again.
Wondrous
you are.

Love
by Yong Chin Chong
I wonder who you are –
You who fills the depths of my soul –
As I sit alone in silence.
You knock upon the door to my heart,
Though I have shut and locked it tight.
When I stand about, perplexed,
Filled with the need to find you
But not knowing where to begin,
I think that perhaps your soul
Is doing the same.
Not as the cold rock
That stands upright beyond time,
But may you rather be as
The clear creek that rushes before me
Like a breeze blowing through an alley,
Like the starlight shining in the wind.
I wonder who you are.
Once again tonight,
You fill the depths of my soul.
[Translated by James Chong, my first son. UC Irvine, English Major]
Love
I wonder who you are
You, who can fill up the my entire being
Even though I sit alone in silence
If I shut and lock the door
You come knocking on my heart
When I roam all around
In search of you
You might be doing the same for me
Do not become a cold rock
Confronting an eternity of time
But instead be
A clear river
Flowing in front of me
With splashes and whispers
Like the breeze blowing through a passageway
As the starlight, bathed by the wind
You
On this night, again
Behold my empty soul
and fill it up completely
[Translated by Joseph Chong, my second son. Harvard University, English Major]
