Love for the wild flowers by the wind

Thomas Kim(동아줄 김태수)/Translated by Phillip Lee

Only when an unpretentious wild flower waved her hand, I realized you were near.

Only knowing to see and hear to confirm, I never heard you with even with my ears open.

Even when I was gazing at you, I never knew of your quiet yet real existence.

Without offering me a single look, loving me without saying anything, not knowing how to love or to be loved, I never knew your silent disappearance was your trace of love.

Only when the withering wild flowers shouted and shook the earth, I realized you invited the “flower” rain.

Only when I saw the amber fruit, I realized you called for the sunshine.

I only knew how to read the needle of the weight scale, but never knew of your impossible-to-weigh and overflowing fruit of love inside my heart.

I thought this love was like the kind when the seed of desire wrapped up inside the shell of love blossoms while shedding that protective membrane one by one.

Drenched in the emptiness after the departure, I never knew you were growing as a pretty flower in your breath that never left.

Even the fallen leaf was love, waiting for the spring, I never knew.

Impossible to see yet being there as if not loving at all, yet you come to me in thousand disguised faces, as a sound of rain, as a bird-chirping, as a flower-fragrance; you become a flower for the rain, a flower for the bird, and a flower for a human being.

I never knew; you become a flower for a flower.
