아프리카엔 흑인이 없더이다

다만 미국 와서 흑인이 되었을 뿐

르완다인, 케냐인, 탄자니아인

에티오피아인, 그리고 그 이웃 나라 이웃들

저마다 사랑스럽고 귀여운 아이들

자랑스럽고 흐뭇한 누이들, 어버이들

 

누가 누구를 우월한 인종이라 했는지

내려보고 업신여기고 천대하고

아무리 엄한 차별 금지법에도 아랑곳없이

대명천지 21세기에도 버젓이

우리는 여전한 차별을 벗어던지지 못했습니다

이것은 우리의 수치, 역사 앞에서

 

나와 그대가 다를 수 있음을

아니, 달라야만 더 조화롭고 아름다움을

우리는 왜 인정할 수 없는지 

내 배아파 낳은

금이야옥이야 키워낸 새끼도

나와는 달라도 너무도 다른 것을

늘상 겪으면서도…

 

아프리카엔 흑인은 없습니다

미국에도 흑인은 없습니다

우리가 있을 뿐입니다

 

 

No black person is in Africa,

but just became black when they came to America.

Rwandans, Kenyans, Tanzanians

Ethiopians and other neighbors from neighbor countries are there.

So much lovely cute children,

sisters really proud and parents so grateful are they.

 

Whose judge was favor on a specific race than others…

Looking down, slighting, treating others disdainful,

even with the plain nondiscrimination law,

still the color line is there yet in this bright 21st century,

which is shame on us in the history.

 

How come we can not accept you could be deferent from us,

actually rather more beautiful and harmonious in the variety!

Even we are all the way experiencing 

our children we gave birth through labour

and pouring out on them our whole being

are different from us, totally different…

 

Neither black is in Africa,

nor in America,

but us.
