수선화의 새해인사 / Deffodils' happy new year

구비구비 돌아가는 길목
모난 한 귀퉁이에
빼꼼하게 내민 노란 꽃잎
너무 서둘러 나온 탓일까
희끗 어줍잖은 자태로
지나가는 나그네에게 수줍은 인사를 건넨다
 

성난 먹구름이 잔뜩 찌푸린 새해 첫 날

이 한 겨울철에?
의아스런 눈으로
조심스레 다가가 살핀다
 

봄의 전령사
수선화꽃 맞다

늘 앞서 선보이던
크로커스 불루벨조차도 웅크리고 있는
이 한파에
수선화가 웬말이냐
 

기후변화의 재채기로
엉켜 돌아가는 자연의 섭리지만
흠칫 놀라게 한
한 송이 수선화
서슴없이 활짝 가슴에 안는다
 

얼어붙었던 마음에
한 줄기 봄의 따스함이

사르르 스며든다

 

At an angle of meandering path

Yellow flowers that have just peeped out faintly

Yield a new year’s greetings

To a passer-by, me

Shyly but gracefully

As if it disturbed the wintry sleep too soon

 

In the mid-winter

When shadowed by angry murky clouds

On the first day of new year?

 

I approach them with wondering eyes

They surely are daffodils

 

The true messenger of Spring!

How on earth?

In this freezing weather!

 

Even the crocus and bluebells are in dormant

Outstripping the earlier bearers of the season
The current pattern of unsettled nature

That sneezes at its whim

 

These early flowers that startled me

So out of blue

I hastily embrace them with my open arms

 

A chink of warm sense

Is letting up on my cold heart

Gently and Softly
