75. 통곡의 벽에 기대어

 

 

가진 것 하나 없이

목숨만 기대섰다

 

죄얼을 지고

기우는 설해목인 채

운명도 숙명도 눈물뿐이다

 

내 지은 죄 없다면

무엇하러 예 와서 눈물 뿌리랴

 

울어서 될 일이면

강물 되어 흐르리다

침묵으로 될 일이면

천 년 만 년 바위로 남으리다

 

하늘이여 

이 죽을 목숨

주님 흘리신 피에 젖어

희고 맑게 씻기오니

 

당신 가슴 선지와

내 심장 눈물이 통곡으로 엉겨

또 다른 벽으로 우뚝 서서

나를 기대줍니다

 

 

75. Leaning against the Wall of Wailing

 

 

Without a single thing

a mere life is leaning against this wall

 

Sinful nature within,

a bent tree damaged by winter snow,

destiny or fate, they are all tears

 

If without sin

why would I come here and shed tears

 

If tears will suffice

I will be a river and flow

If silence will suffice

I will remain as a rock thousands of years

 

Heavenly Lord,

this corruptible life

is baptized in thy shed blood

and cleansed white and pure

 

The clod from thy heart

and the tears from my heart

intermingle in the wailing

and rise as another wall

for me to lean on
