오랜만에

고향에 찾아와 보니

공항에 뛰어나와 날 맞아주던 벗들은

이미 세상을 하직하고

어쩌다가 눈웃음만으로 지나쳐오던

어설픈 친구 몇몇이 남아 있어서

그때 그런 눈웃음만 쳐주는데

견디기 어려운 눈물 돈다

68. Time and Tide

I return to my old home

after a long time,

the old friends who greeted me at the airport

already departed

and those few shallow friends

at whom I merely nodded when I passed by

come by and nod at me

and irrepressible tears well up in my eyes
