35. 석상(石像)

 

 

죄인 하나 여기 섰노라

 

무서리 내리는 캄캄한 골짜기

홀로 선 입불상처럼

속 검은 죄인

여기 서 있노라

 

이마에서 발끝까지

눈비바람 섞어 쳐도 씻기지 않는 죄얼

꿈쩍 않는 육신의

생애가 눈물겨워

 

백년을 하루같이

일렁이는 울음으로 숨어 숨어 가다 보면

우주의 어느 구석 누구의 뒤 안에

뉘우쳐지는 길도 있는가

 

죄의 살에 바람 스치면 파르르 떠는 이끼들과

주홍보다 붉은 심장 그대로 흰 눈 녹아 흐르는

저 하늘 끝까지 걸어 오르고 싶은 이 죄인

떨어지기 어려운 두 발로(‘떨어지지 않는’을 ‘떨어지기 어려운’으로 바꿈)

여기 서 있노라  

 

 

35. The Statue of Stone

 

 

Here stands a sinner

 

Like a carved Buddha standing alone

in a dark frosting valley,

a sinner with tainted inside

is standing here

 

The snowy gust that beats him from forehead to toe

can not wash away his sinful nature

It is a sorrowful life

of unyielding flesh and bones

 

All the way hidden and shedding tears

one hundred years like one day,

will there be a way of repentance

in someone's inner being in a far corner of the universe

 

This sinner yearning to walk up to the end of the heaven

where the trembling mosses in the wind touching the flesh of sin

and the heart redder than scarlet merge into white as snow,

is standing here

on his two feet reluctant to take a step
