두고 온 여름

여름만 되면
뭔가 잊고 온 것만 같아
자꾸 되돌아가고 싶은 곳이 있다.

앞마당 가득 고여 있던
한 낮의 하얀 적막
사금파리 속에서 익어가던
내 유년의 풀꽃김치

시골 변소 잿더미 옆에
또아리 틀고 앉아
겁 많은 나를 까무라치게 하던
덩치 큰 얼룩 구렁이까지

아아
나는 너무 멀리 떠나 왔나 봐

여름만 되면
어스름 초저녁 풀벌레 소리
거기 함께 했던 이름들
자꾸 불러보고 싶다.

Lurking coiled up
Scaring yellow bellied me to death
Even that large bodied spotted snake

I must have come too far away.

When summer comes around
The sound of grasshopers in the early dusky evening
Those names that I had fared with
I feel like to keep calling
