산봉우리 하나

산봉우리 둘

산봉우리 셋

산봉우리 넷

 

눈물 포개 올린 해발 800m

다윗이 울면서 맨발로 밤에 오르던 곳

주님도 외로이 기도 속에 우시던

그 골짜기를 더듬는 손발이 저리구나

 

예루살렘성과 기드론 계곡을 비켜서서

설움의 옷자락 가리고

봉마다 피워 흔들던 불꽃들은

어느 밤 누구의 손짓에 사위였느냐

 

바벨론 포로들 가슴과 가슴에

젖어 흐르던 눈물의 강은 마르고

우거진 숲과 숲 사이

새들의 울음 멎은 지 오래인데

부활을 기다리는 무덤들만

즐비하구나

 

산아 감람산아

일어나라

어서 깨어 일어나라

거친 산등성이 골짜기마다

꽃으로 피는 눈물 산으로

다시 태어나라

 

 

77. The Mountain of Olives  

 

 

One mountain top

Two mountain tops

Three mountain tops

Four mountain tops

 

800 meters above sea with layers of tears within

where bare footed David climbed crying

Numb are these hands and feet that grope in the valley

where the Lord too cried alone in His prayer

 

The torches they waved in their sorrow

from every mountain top

trailing the city of Jerusalem and the brook of Kidron,

at whose beckon did they all disappear?

 

The flowing river of tears that soaked every bosom

of the prisoners of Babylon dried up

The birds' chirping among thick woods

ceased long ago

and only the graves awaiting the resurrection

are there in lines

 

Mountain, the Mountain of Olives,

arise,

wake up and arise,

Be born again

as a mountain blooming with tears

in every desolate slope and valley
