아가야

버들가지 봄눈 떴나

나가 보아라

 

버들가지 바람 불어 흔들리거든

너도 함께 흔들리며 서서 있다가

바람과 버들가지가 주고받는 말

그 하늘이야기 좀 들어보렴

 

이 봄철에 무슨 일이 있을 거냐고

몇 만 송이 꽃이 더 피어나겠느냐고

귀 기울여 물어 보아라

 

그 말씀 배어든 잎새 따 물고

온 세상 구석구석 날아 보아라

아가야

 

방주에서 날아간 새처럼

다시 돌아오지 않아도 된다

42. First Day of Spring

 

 

Little One,

go out and see

if the willow’s buds are opening their eyes

 

If the willow waves in the wind

you stand there waving along

and listen to the wind and the willow,

to their heavenly story

 

Listen and ask

what will happen this spring

and how many more thousands of blossoms will bloom

 

Pluck and hold in your mouth a leaf drenched in His word

and fly to every coner of the world,

Like the bird that flew out of the ark
