It’s the principle of total consumption:
A cooker emptied of its rice,
Still has a slightly burned layer on its bottom.
Just pour in drinking water and boil.

When I was young, after missing the day’s meals,
During the barley time of boree-gogae
When we had to wait for the harvest,
That savory smell from the neighbor’s
Drove me to hunger
Like the smell from a mother’s breasts.

But lucky you.
You don’t have to bother boiling burned rice.
Lately a Japanese company has produced
Rice tea in bags,
And the taste is not bad.
