부끄러운 일

햇볕 잘 드는 뒤뜰에
상추 들깨 씨 뿌려놓고
하루에도 몇 번씩 들여다본다

작은 씨앗들이
흙덩이를 밀고 올라와
저마다 쑥쑥 일어서는 것이
첫 아이 때처럼
신기하고 사랑스럽다

날마다 물을 주고
잡초를 뽑아주다가
문득
내 속의 무성한 잡초를 본다

뽑으려도 뽑을 수 없어
신음하며 키우고 있는
내 속엣 것들
날마다 푸르러가는 것들 앞에서
한 없이 부끄럽다

A Shame

At a sunny place in our backyard
Lettuce and perilla seeds I sowed
And several times a day, I look at them

Little seeds
Pushing themselves out through the mass of soil
Protruded all the way out, each one...
Just like the time of first child
They look amazing and lovely

Watering daily
Plucking out weeds
Suddenly
I see bushy weeds in me

Tried to pluck them out in vain
Tolerating them moaning
Facing those in me
As they grow daily greener
I feel ashamed with no end.
