이국의 봄날

'로즈 힐' 뒷동네
한국 농원이
연일 떠들썩하다

목련 매화 배 산수유
어쩌다 저들까지
미국으로 이민을 온 걸까

태평양을 건너와서도
가슴에 맺힌 이름들
가지마다 걸어 놓더니

성급하기도 해라
아직
찬바람 하늘 끝에 매달려 있는데

대책 없이
차오르는 그리움
낯선 벌판 가득 토해 놓는다

이른 봄날
화안하게 술렁거리는
이국의 한 벌판
종일 고향 소식으로 떠들썩하다

A Spring Day In A Foreign Country

At the 'Rose Hill' back villiage,
A  Korean farm land
Is buzzing about, day in and day out.

Magnolia, Apricot Flower, Pear Tree, Cornus Fruit
How could even they
Have immigrated to the States?

Even crossing the Pacific Ocean
Those names that are engraved poignantly in their hearts
Were decked out on each of their branches..

How impetuous they are!
When
Cold wind is still clinging on sky's end.

Hopelessly
The ever growing yearnings
Are thrown up on to the entire unfamiliar field

On early Spring day
Buzzing with bright excitement
The vast field of foreign country
Is rootin' -tootin' whole day with friendly news of hometown.
