산자락에 오르면
먼 시간을 매어놓는
낡은 암자 하나 보였지

멀리서도 보이는
이끼 낀 기왓장과
처마 끝에 매달린 목어

바람이 지나가고
허공에서
물고기 한 마리 헤엄치면
둥글게 원을 그리며 달려오던 소리

곱게 늙어가는 보살님의
무량의 숨결
바람에 실려 온 많은 이야기들
산 갈피갈피 채우며
내 소슬한 이마에 잦아들 곤 했었지

When I climb to the foot of the mountain
As if far gone time bound up there
An old tiny temple came into view.

The mossy roof tiles
And the wooden fish dangling at the edge of an eaves
Could be seen from afar

Wind passes
And in the hollow space
One fish swims, then
Some sounds used to run to me drawing a round circle

Immeasurable breaths
Of the beautifully aging female monk
And so many stories brought in by the wind
Filling mountain gorge after gorge
They used to trail away on my bleak forehead
