스코필드 박사 흉상 제막식에 부치는 글 My unforgettable memory of Dr. Schofield, my uncle Volunteering to help Korea, suffering from Japanese oppression, Which Indian Poet, Tagore called “The Lamp of the East” in his poem, You crossed the Pacific Ocean to illuminate that light to Korea With bright vision from God. For Korean independence and liberation from Japanese colonial rule, You sacrificed your life to lighten our burden in our struggle. You are our everlasting friend, Dr. Schofield! You proclaimed Japanese barbarism all over the world, Through the pictures taken and your articles On the activities for the ‘March 1 Independence Movement’. You are a great patriot for our country, Dr. Schofield! Even carrying a cane, limping You devoted yourself to teaching bacteriology and pathology At Severance University and Seoul National University. My memory is still vivid in my mind. You wrote enormous fund-raising letters to acquaintances overnight. Many promising young students were granted scholarships, And many poor orphans were taken care of. Through the Words of God Manifesting Christianity, you became our example and mentor. As a Christian missionary, you did your utmost for His highest; You are our beloved benefactor, Dr. Schofield! Through the parable of the Bible ‘A dying grain’ You implanted spirit of sacrifice into my heart; Throughout my life, you are my unforgettable Uncle, Dr. Schofield! You transformed my entire character, and I became an ordained pastor, poetess and essayist. You always dwell in my heart, my Uncle, Dr. Schofield! You are buried in the patriot tomb at the National Cemetery, In remembrance of you and in honor of you. Your merits will be praised from generation to generation; Your light shines upon us like sunrise brightly!
