63) A Solitary Cell
Wolran Kim
Beautiful death row convict
Inmate driven out
Arrested, my crime is massive like an iron gate
The date of execution under the newborn’s tongue
Who bursts into a roar of laughter
Surprise raising two hands,
With walls in all directions, sit down with my back facing
Registered directly in the square
Victory is paid in full at the cost of blood and tears
Nobody can peep through me
Bay leaves through the room have no space between lines
Under the ceiling, lower and lower
Whenever rustles the wind’s shadow
Blue sky’s neck tightened in iron bars
Turned deadly pale with horror
When the day lights a firecracker through a miniature portal
Be held prisoner, this solo dance is more absurd
Escape everynight, what a dazzling disgrace that I am alive
Awake in a daze, the place where morning has gone
Interlinear hollow falls whenever a bracket springs up between skeletons
There is only witnesses and evidence to a jury
As if in the wrong way, a butterfly flaps its wings
Flying away between my rib boneslike iron bars
The butterfly’s path draws a line on my body
Splitting into two
