While the fork works like a claw,
Chopsticks work as a bill:
If you needed only one tool for dining,
It’s chopsticks. With little two sticks,
We can do whatever a bill does;

Unlike the fork it picks up grain,
Lifts stew meat, pecks holes
And cuts and splits vegetable stems.
It can also work like a lever and carry.

No wonder in Asia, even when the bride
So poor that she couldn’t afford a dowry,
She just stuck the chopsticks in her belt.

Don’t worry if you forgot to bring
Your utensils to the picnic.
You can make a pair with a twig.
