Dokdo,I met

With devotions and pleads for three generations,

Only then would you walk on the wondrous land

Around 3:20pm,5/15/2018

Finally taking my first step onto such history

Dokdo was never lonely in its aloneness.

Embracing the eastern Pacific in its arms

The horizon's bellowing white clouds

Reflected in its eyes,

Do not the seagulls envelop the island whole

And often pay visits to big uncle Ulleungdo!

Rooting into the deep, deep ocean floor lava two thousand meters below,

A magnificiant sight of rising up, a people's sprit

Do not belittle as merely a rock in the Eastern Sea

Do not covet with ill tenacity of a namesake neighbor

ISabu of Silla had long clamed

this land for Usan-guk

The sun rises from the Eastern Sea

Korea's morning begins at Dokdo

After half a life spent as a wonderer of American land,

I am sorry to have only met Dokdo now.

Dokdo! Be well.

I'll return,Ulleungdo !

Remain forever.

A nation of 70 million will protect you.
