외삼(杉)나무 곁에서

아름다운 캘리포니아 
패불 비치(pebble beach)에는 
갈매기가 노닐고
외삼나무 한 그루 
이백 오십년이 넘도록
경사진 벼랑에 서있다

새벽 바다를 
매일 바라볼 수 있는 
이색적인 창문 
그 맑은 눈들 때문에 
외롭지는 않은 가 보다 

물결이 고운 
몬테레이( Monterey) 해변의 해초는 
육지의 늘 푸른 소나무가 되고 싶어 
밤낮으로 바람에 날아
소나무 이파리 인양
여기 저기 나뭇가지에 붙는다 

바다는 하얀 포말(泡沫) 
홀로 선 네 곁에 울타리치고 
벼랑에서도 
천년을 소망하며 버티고 선 
너를 위해 노래 부른다

Seagulls are walking at Pebble Beach
of beautiful California
Lone Cypress stands 
on the sloping cliff alone
over two hundred-fifty years

The special designed windows look at 
the dawning sea everyday
You seem not to be alone
because of the many clear eyes of windows

Seaweeds at the Monterey seaside 
with gentle waves so beautiful
desired they are for 
always green pine trees on land 
They fly with the wind day and night
Stuck to the branches of trees 
looking like pine needles

The sea is white bubbles
She puts a fence around lonely you
Even though atop of a cliff
you resist with hope for one thousand years
