비둘기와 오물 잉글우드(Inglewood)와 머린 에버뉴 코너, 주유소에서 배고픈 차에 음식을 주고 있었다 갑자기 무엇인가가 머리와 차에 소낙비처럼 떨어져 내렸다 휘둥그레 쳐다보니 지붕 위 처마마다 비둘기들이 고개를 내어민다 개스가 들어가고 있는 중이라 피할 수 없었던 상황 난감한 상태에서 한손으로 머리의 오물을 털고 있는데 또 한바탕 비둘기는 쓰레기를 내린다 옆에서 개스를 넣고 있던 처녀가 오! 노! 하며 웃고 있다 길 건너엔 경찰관이 티켓을 끊고 있다 비둘기한테는 티켙 안줘요? 해변에서 모이를 줍던 비둘기 기념식의 하늘을 날던 자유의 상징 비둘기 노아에게 기쁜 소식을 건네주던 지혜의 비둘기 모두 아름답기만 하였는데 집에 돌아온 자동차 몇 번이나 씻어도 개운치 않은 나의 귀한 시간 짜증스러운 하루였다 Pigeons and Droppings I was feeding my fuel-starved car At the corner gas station of Inglewood and Marine Avenue Out of nowhere something showered down on my head and my car Wide-eyed, I looked up to the sky And saw the pigeons sticking out their heads From all around the eaves on the roof I was in the middle of fueling And unable to duck the droppings Not knowing what to do I was shaking off the droppings with one hand When the pigeons drop wastes in the second air raid "Oh, no!" laughed a young lady Who was filling her gas tank next to me A police officer was issuing a ticket across the street "Can you issue tickets to the pigeons?"
