어머니의 방

밤 늦도록 뒤적이다
태평양을 거너
친정에 간다

낮익은 불빛들 사이
어둠에 잠긴 어머니의 방
사철 내리는 서리 속에
아기처럼 잠드신 모습
간간히 돌아눕는
낮은 신음 소리

가늘고 주름진 몸
가만히 쓰다듬다가
발목을 잡는 천근의 무게에
새벽이 되도록
문지방를 넘지 못했다.

Tossing and turning till deep in the night
Across the Pacific ocean
I go to Mom's house

Between familiar lights
Darkness set Mom's room
In the midst of all year long frosts
Mom's figure sleeping like a baby
Turning her body over occasionally
Letting out low groan

Lean body with wrinkles
Silently stroked I
But a great weight shackled at my ankles
Till it dawns
Kept me from crossing the threshold.
