2. 백합

 

 

천의 만의 먹구름

벼락 해일 어질 머리를

물고 뜯는 피투성이를

연한 꽃잎 하나로 잠재울 수 있음을

백합이여

가슴에 새김하라

 

시들지 마라, 눈부시게 피어나라

심장에 쇠창살이 박히는 아픔을   

꽃잎 하나로도 위로가 되나니

꽃잎 하나로도 어둠을 맑게 씻어 내나니

 

내가 지고 갈 죽음과

내가 누울 한 평 땅에

너는 심기어질 수 있느냐

백합이여

 

 

2. Lily

 

 

A thousand or ten thousands of dark clouds,

lightning, flood tides, dazed heads,

bloody gore biting and torn,

all these can be stilled by one tender petal,

engrave on your bosom,

o lily

 

Do not wither but bloom brightly

A single petal eases the throe

from a spear striking one’s heart

A single petal scatters darkness  

 

I will bear death

to the burial ground of one *pyong where I shall be laid down

Will you be planted there

o lily
