The rain falls fumbling the dawn.

A wet chill seeps along with the winter's shadows.
And the throbbing Christmas and the steep New Year's Eve
Have receded like an ebb tide
Leaving a time resembling an inlet's silt.

The dismal fingers draw circles
In each hole of the world.

When I dig out from the depths of my hard bosom,
Could I save, like a dear wish,
A star
That looks like a new sprout swelling white?

I smell a dead soul
In the long darkness' eyeballs
That flow over the cold shoulders of January
Standing like an epitaph.

The snow falls only in faraway places.
The snow falls only in high places.

새벽을 더듬으며 비가 온다

축축한 한기 겨울그림자 따라 스미고
성탄절의 설렘과 제야의 가파름이
썰물처럼 사라진 개펄 같은 시간

침울한 손가락들 세상의 구멍마다 동그라미를 그린다

딱딱한 가슴팍 깊숙이 후벼 파면
하얗게 부푼 새순 같은
별 하나

소망처럼 건질 수 있을까?

묘비처럼 서있는 1월의 썰렁한 어께에 흘러내리는
긴 어둠의 눈망울에서 죽은 영혼의 냄새가 난다

눈은 먼 곳에서만 내리고
눈은 높은 곳에서만 내리고
