Maturing Love

All tears and no smiles,
Could this be love?

Superheroes to us at such an immature age
Alas become arch nemeses to us as unruly young adults.

Things were always so lucid.
We were wrong; they were right.
Just as the night sky is black,
And the snow is white.

The horizon between the darkest of nights and purest of snows
Swiftly becomes blurry.

The desolate slush begins to form
And all too soon,
One massive cloud of gray begins to hover over us.
Nothing seems so clear now.

The flood of tears wash away all the smiles.
No longer do the innocent things in life make us happy.

The dangerous mutation of friend to foe
Blocks our only ray of sunshine.

Wanting the "best" for us,
Diminishing all meaning of life: love.

Emotionless, numb, frozen.

Could this be hatred...?
Could this be maturing love...?

사라진 웃음 위에 출렁이는 눈물
이것마저도 사랑인가요?

어린 가슴에 새겨진 영웅들
아, 이제 폭풍같은 우리들의 가슴엔
오직 신화 속 무지개

언제나 분명한 흑과 백
우리는 틀렸고 그들은 옳았죠
마치 밤하늘은 검고
눈은 흰것처럼

허물어진 지평선
순식간에 한몸으로 뒤엉켜버린
암흑의 밤과 순결의 흰눈

형체를 드러낸 황폐한 진창길
내 앞에 버티어
정수리 위를 맴도는 육중한 회색 구름처럼
망막한 삶

웃음을 휩쓸고 간 눈물의 홍수
더 이상 행복의 테두리 안에 머물지 않을
내 어린날의 순수

아군의 위태로운 변신은
적군의 얼굴로 다가와
단 한줄기 빛의 광선마저 가려 놓고

생의 모든 것,
"사랑"마저 앗아가버린
“최고가 되어라”는 그들의 요구

사라진 감동
마비된 감각
얼어붙은 날들

증오인가요?
사랑의 성숙인가요?
